COVID-19 Update:

Residents Camps Approved to Open Across the State.

EOSC is happy to announce that we fought to reopen competitive sports in Ohio. The state confirmed that Ohioans nineteen and under have little direct threat from Covid-19.  The reason for closing youth sports was due to post-sport transmission of Covid-19 to others. EOSC believes, and the State now agrees, that enhanced COVID-19 practices can permit young Ohioans to participate in the sports they love while keeping themselves and others healthy.  The Camp hopes to be a starting point for all Ohio high school sports to open this Fall. Read response letter from the Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Health regarding residential camping at the Eastern Ohio Sports Complex.

**All athletes must complete and submit a Confirmation of Compliance with COVID-19 Protocols form prior to entering camp to participate. If a form is not completed, the athlete WILL NOT be permitted to participate. Download form here.**

EOSC is committed following all COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the Ohio Department of Health and will implement and follow all required guidelines. View list of safety precautions being taken at EOSC.

HOW DOES TELETHERAPY WORK?

Teletherapy has been available as an alternative platform to face-to-face speech therapy for many years. With more and more evidence-based research showing its efficacy, it has become a widespread mode, and often the preferred mode, for providing speech therapy. Instead of receiving therapy in a clinic, your child will be able to receive one-to-one therapy from the comfort of his or her own home and natural environment. With flexible scheduling, teletherapy makes it easy to ensure consistent therapy no matter how busy life may get.

DOES SPEECH FOR THE TOP ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Speech For the Top is a private-pay service and is considered out-of-network with all insurance companies. This means your child will be able to receive the services that best fit his/her needs, and not just the oftentimes limited services insurance will allow. However, Speech For the Top can provide a "superbill" (a list of dates and payment of services) for possible reimbursement from your insurance. To find out more, call your insurance and discuss private therapy reimbursement options.

HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD REQUIRE THERAPY?

Since children all develop at different paces, it is difficult to put a time frame on therapy. The all encompassing goal will always be on progress in whichever area(s) are of concern, beginning with the most functional targets. Factors such as parental carryover, intrinsic motivation (for school-aged children), among others, will also affect length of service.

WHAT DOES THE FREE CONSULTATION INVOLVE?

Whether you have received a physician referral or simply have concerns as a parent, Speech For the Top is happy to offer a free phone consultation. You can think of this 15-20 minute phone call as a screening as to whether your child would benefit from a formal evaluation or not based on caregiver-provided information. This will also serve as a great time to get any and all questions answered.

WHAT ARE THE TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS?

Speech teletherapy will be performed using a video conferencing program called Zoom. Zoom is compatible with computers, tablets, or phones. The only technology requirements are a stable internet connection and device with video camera capabilities!

IS FACE-TO-FACE THERAPY AN OPTION INSTEAD?

At this time, teletherapy is the main method of speech therapy delivery.

IS THERE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT?

Yes! Consistent progress in therapy is highly correlated with parental involvement and carryover in the home environment. Teletherapy is already being performed in the home environment, which is a large benefit compared to traditional clinic-based therapy. In addition, your speech therapist will always provide carryover activities with tips and tricks for how to continue to work on targeted areas even after the speech therapy session is over.

DO YOU REALLY EXPECT MY CHILD TO SIT IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER FOR THE FULL SESSION?

No! We work with children ages 0-21. No matter the age, every child has a different attention span. We do not expecct your child to maintain attention to the computer or phone screen for the entire session. Much of the session will include parental coaching in which your therapist will tell you exactly what to do, using items in your home, giving you the power to engage your child and work on the targeted areas! Your therapist can also recommend seating arrangements to increase attention for parts of the session.

DO YOU ALSO HAVE CONCERNS REGARDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR CHILD'S FINE OR GROSS MOTOR SKILLS?

Occupational and speech therapy are tightly linked. Speech and language functioning are directly impacted by the skills that develop within properly functioning systems that are targeted through occupational therapy such as the vestibular system, the proprioceptive system, and sensory integration.

Through a holistic approach, your child can receive occupational therapy services in addition to speech therapy from a certified occupational therapist, Ms. Brittany, through the same teletherapy platform. As a sister duo, both Ms. Brittany and Ms. Jessi are dedicated to using individualized techniques through a collaborative approach to produce the highest results possible.

If you think your child could benefit from occupational therapy, please contact Ms. Brittany of OT2U: http://ot2ufl.com/|Brittany@ot2ufl.com|954-464-7112
